JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesia and Brazil on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, signed eight cooperation agreements across sectors including energy, mining, science, technology, and trade promotion, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The signing followed a bilateral meeting between the two leaders and their delegations, marking a new phase of strategic collaboration between two of the world’s largest developing democracies. “Our two nations are rising economic powers in the Global South. This partnership carries strategic significance, and both of us consider it essential to strengthen and expand cooperation in every field,” President Prabowo said.

Prabowo emphasized that both countries shared similar development goals and values, highlighting welfare, technological progress, and defense cooperation as key focus areas. “In agriculture, Brazil is highly advanced, and we aim to build strong ties in that sector. In defense, Brazil also has a sophisticated industry — we have long used several of their systems and plan to deepen collaboration further,” he added.
President Lula’s visit to Jakarta was a return gesture following Prabowo’s state visit to Brasília in July 2025. During their talks, Prabowo expressed admiration for Lula’s leadership. “I personally admire your policies and have followed many of them because we share a common interest — the welfare of our people. My top priority, too, is the prosperity of the Indonesian people,” Prabowo said.
The bilateral event concluded with the signing of eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation notes across multiple sectors:
