JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesia’s largest trade exhibition, Trade Expo Indonesia 2025, has achieved record-breaking transactions worth US$ 22.8 billion, equal to Rp 376.2 trillion, far exceeding the government’s initial target of US$ 16.5 billion.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso announced the achievement during the closing ceremony of the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday, Oct 19, 2025. The event showcased Indonesia’s manufacturing, agricultural, and service exports under the theme “Discover Indonesia’s Excellence: Trade Beyond Boundaries.”
“For the transactions recorded during the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia, the total reached US$ 22.8 billion or Rp 376.2 trillion. This includes US$ 17.9 billion from goods trade, US$ 443.7 million from services, and US$ 4.37 billion from investment,” Budi said in his press conference.
He emphasized that the result far surpassed expectations, reflecting Indonesia’s growing role in global trade and investment. “Transactions continued even past midday as buyers were still finalizing deals. I am confident that more transactions will be concluded as follow-ups after the expo,” he added.
The Ministry of Trade reported that memorandum of understanding (MoU) signings contributed US$ 2.27 billion, on-the-spot fairground transactions reached US$ 71.6 million, and business-matching deals totaled US$ 63.4 million—an increase of 88 percent from last year.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) also made a strong showing, booking total transactions of US$ 474.7 million or Rp 7.8 trillion. “This indicates that Indonesia’s MSMEs are increasingly recognized for their quality and export potential,” Budi noted.
India emerged as the largest trading partner during the exhibition, with total transactions reaching US$ 4.3 billion. The Netherlands followed at US$ 3.9 billion, Vietnam at US$ 3.3 billion, the Philippines at US$ 3.1 billion, and China at US$ 2.4 billion.
Budi said the most sought-after products included mining goods worth US$ 5.5 billion, precious metals valued at US$ 2.7 billion, palm oil and derivatives at US$ 2.3 billion, briquettes at US$ 1.6 billion, and automotive spare parts at US$ 1.4 billion. “The product mix this year shows a healthy diversification across extractive and manufacturing sectors,” he said.
Beyond immediate sales, potential transactions from business matching reached US$ 37.6 billion, while on-the-spot deals amounted to US$ 2.4 billion. The ministry also recorded new cooperation programs connecting MSME food producers with modern retail groups under the Indonesian Retail and Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
“This partnership ensures that MSME products passing the Food Award selection will automatically be distributed through major retailers,” Budi explained, adding that the initiative supports President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision to expand industrial downstreaming and integrate MSMEs into national value chains.
The 40th Trade Expo Indonesia, held from Wednesday to Sunday, Oct 15–19, 2025, attracted 34,550 visitors from 131 countries—exceeding its target of 30,000. The exhibition featured 1,619 participants and 8,045 registered buyers, with the largest contingents coming from Malaysia, China, India, Nigeria, and Egypt.
The expo was organized across three major zones: food and agriculture, manufacturing products, and lifestyle and services. It was held concurrently with the Pangan Nusa Exhibition at Hall 9 of ICE BSD City, highlighting Indonesia’s regional culinary diversity and food industry potential.
Budi concluded that the event demonstrated Indonesia’s capacity to position itself as a regional trade powerhouse. “Trade Expo Indonesia embodies the government’s mission to strengthen industrial downstreaming, promote export diversification, and build a global reputation for quality Indonesian products,” he said.
